1. If you are elected to this office, will you work to consolidate the seven assessor offices into one office with sufficient resources and staff?
No, I will not work to consolidate the seven assessors into one office at this time. I am not clear on the statement "sufficient resources and staff necessary" as it relates to this question. I do suggest, however, that we study the matter to acquire a more in depth understanding of this matter. We may find that having one assessor is not the best solution.
2. If you are elected, will you pledge to be trained as a Certified Assessor Evaluator or Appraisal Supervisor to meet the standards set by the International Association of Assessing Officers?
I am a Certified Assessor according to the standards of the IAAO and I have provided the same opportunities to my staff. I also participate in continuing education opportunities that are available.
3. Will you agree to publish a list of exempt properties annually?
We will provide a list of exempt properties upon request.
4. How will the staff training and the data entry necessary for the new computer system be funded?
The City of New Orleans is ultimately responsible for the funding of the equipment necessary to support the assessment process. We have acquired a new computer system and we are now in Phase II training. The Assessor's Office avails its staff to the continuing education necessary to produce a complete work product.
